Sequential image self-study

Sequential Images: Self Study - Helena Almeida (Hidden anxiety)

The end of my study of sequential images will be this post, in which I will create some  more photos myself and try to demonstrate what I have learned about the sequential images and the skills I have acquired

For my work, I was inspired by the pictures of the artist Helena Almeida under the name “My work is my body, my body is my work” (Faugere, 2016) “The shadow of the artist appears in an empty frame, her shadow becomes the motif. The reflection on the materiality of the painting, of the stretcher and frame, of the canvas, has evolved into a reflection on the prominence to give to the artist’s body in her production, which she will inhabit from this point on.”

Helena Almeida, Inhabited Canvas, 1976

My idea is to show the inner expectation of something and the anxiety that sits in our head all the time. About the fact that most of the time we solve and worry about the problems that regularly arise in our lives and we cannot stop thinking about them. This is anxiety that sits in the middle of a person and does not allow to calm down.

I photographed in my own room at home and used my camera Nikon D3000
, ISO 700, 1/8, F3.5 for those photos. I used the timer on the camera and set it up on a tripod in front of a white wall and a chair. I created a contact sheet using the contact sheet generator

Then I went to Canva and chose the 4 photos element, where I inserted 4 of my photos that I think best describe the theme and idea. I have also placed the name of the idea and my name below

Reflecting on this set of photos I wanted to create a physical reflection of inner experiences. I think I managed to convey my idea and I really enjoyed the process of studying and creating sequential images
