Selfstudy: Step 2 - Visual part for an interview project

Hello, everyone!

Today I will tell you step by step how I will create the visual part of my magazine article of my project about Ukrainian students in England.

I will be creating my work on the Visme platform. I have already shown you how I created the main cover for my magazine.

Here is the final version:

Next, I plan to separate the magazine into the following parts
:
  • Table of contents for 1-2 pages
  • Main information on the main pages
  • Links to additional information and references
I may decide to change some of the parts or add information as I go along.

In the previous Selfstudy, I have already shown the context and purpose of my project. I also listed the questions I was interested in and chose the main characters of my interview as the last point.

During that time, I managed to get answers and collect all the necessary information from the characters of my project, so today I plan to start designing the first pages of the magazine.

Step 1

I log on to the Behance platform to get inspired by similar works and choose a concept and design for my work.

I would like to choose something simple and clear, so that it does not distract attention from the text and is easy to read and understand at the same time.

Here is what I like:

I switch to the Visme platform and start creating my design. First of all, I choose the main colours. These are milk beige and dark grey. I also choose the main fonts: Archivo Black; Dolce Vita; Anek Malayalam. I have not yet decided whether I will use photos in black and white or in color.

I created the first two pages and added the main text to show the content of the magazine.

Next, I decided to shift the position of the text to make it look more interesting and added a detail - a line that would visually separate the information

I decided to choose a large size for the numbers that will indicate the page on which the information is posted, and below them place the main information that I will add later

I separated the figures and information and created a second page of the same kind, which will be a continuation of the first

I thought the pages looked pretty simple so far, so I decided to add a detail with the issue series and an additional description of the ink under the page numbering

Here is the final result at the moment:

I think I will be making other updates to these pages, but more on that in the next post!
